From training to templates, there are several ways available to learn and practice continuous improvement.

Lean Six Sigma (LSS) focuses on reducing defects and limiting waste. As UC San Diego's methodology of choice, LSS provides a common framework, approach and vocabulary as we take on complex challenges.
By obtaining a series of "belts" or certifications, practitioners improve their skills and knowledge through a progression of increasingly complex courses and projects.
Operational Strategic Initiatives (OSI) offers introductory White and Yellow Belt training.

UC San Diego's Transformational Healthcare office provides specialized training for lean healthcare practitioners following the same White, Yellow, Green and Black Belt progression.
The training program covers Lean process improvement methodologies, coaching strategy, change management principles, the Daily Engagement System (DES), and much more. Under the guidance of industry experts, this activity-based, interactive training has been designed to address the unique improvement needs of UC San Diego Health. OSI has put together a collection of tools for your use – everything from an LSS overview, templates for SIPOCs, spaghetti and Ishikawa diagrams, and value stream maps, a tick chart, and a charter template. Get tools.
Promapp helps create simplified process maps with the users in mind. UC San Diego is leveraging Promapp to capture current state processes campuswide. Using this tool, we can identify process improvement opportunities, increase process awareness and support our staff. Learn more!
